Artist's Description

AMOR CARITAS (angel of Charity) is the angel statue created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Amor Caritas has upward-curving wings, a gently inclined head, and a belt and crown of passion flowers. The figure made its first appearance in 1880 in three elegantly robed angels for the tomb of Edwin D. Morgan in Hartford, Connecticut and went on to be replicated several more times by the artist. This version of Amor Caritas is located in Cornish, NH on the Augustus Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site.

With a nod of respect towards those artists that lived and worked in New Hampshire, the scene depicted in my piece �Amor Caritas� is of the Atrium at the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish. The atrium is the setting of Augustus Saint-Gaudens� relief of the same name. Its simple columns, pool and garden opening to the natural landscape beyond it create a scene reminiscent of the works of Maxfield Parrish, and serve as an example of how the beauty found in nature can be e...

Landscapes have always been her passion, where shapes, textures and lighting always offer an endless source of subjects and challenges. She began her own artistic journey at the age of 12 with her first set of oil paints and has been studying and painting art ever since.
